Some years ago I purchased a DJI Phantom 2 quadcopter to literally get a new perspective on my photography.
Most people use the Phantoms for video footage, but the image quality is far from good enough for stills photos.
A Dutch company called Dronexpert saw the potential, and made a custom rig for use with the Sony RX-100 compact camera.
The RX-100 produces amazingly high quality photos, and although the combined weight of the rig and the camera is slightly beyond what
the Phantom is designed for, it will fly for around 10 minutes with a fully charged battery.
The rig has live feed to an LCD screen on the ground, making it possible for me to see what the camera sees.
The camera can be tilted 90 degrees, and the shutter can be trigged from the DJI radio controller.

This is a stitched panorama made with two photos. I slightly rotated the quadcopter between the shots.

This is an interesting experiment - a panorama from a flying camera! Three exposures, with a slight rotation of the
quadcopter between each shot. Stitched in PTGUI.

Not a great photo, but I include it to show the quality possible from the RX100. Below is a 1:1 crop of this photo.
